Christian Trip to Jordan

8 Days

Overview

Jordan has delighted visitors for centuries with its World Heritage Sites, friendly towns and inspiring desert landscapes. Jordan has a tradition of welcoming visitors: camel caravans plied the legendary King’s Highway transporting frankincense in exchange for spices while Nabataean tradesmen, Roman legionnaires, zealous Crusaders all passed through the land, leaving behind impressive monuments. These monuments, including Roman amphitheaters, Crusader castles and Christian mosaics, have fascinated subsequent travelers in search of antiquity and the origins of faith. The tradition of hospitality to visitors remains to this day. AMMAN/ UMM QAIS/ MAR ELIAS/ JERASH/SHOBAK/PETRA/MOUNT NEBO/MADABA/BETHANY/DEAD SEA/ LOT’S CAVE/AQABA

Its defenders withstood numerous attacks from the armies of Saladin (Salah ad Din) before succumbing in 1189 (a year after Karak), after an 18-month siege. It was later occupied in the 14th century by the Mamluks, who built over many of the Crusader buildings. Transfer to Little Petra. At the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George visitors may view the earliest surviving original map of the Holy Land, which was made around

A.D. 560. In addition, there are other mosaic floors preserved throughout the town, as well as a fine local museum. Less than 40 kilometers south of Madaba lay Mukawir, ancient Machaerus. Mount Nebo is believed to be the tomb of Moses. It is a lonely, windswept hill. Visiting the Russian church.

“And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry” (Mark 11:12).

“And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there” (Matthew 21:17).

“Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead” (John 12:1).
